Roger C.W. Tang, M.Sc.
Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer
The founder of Action Energy Inc., Mr. Tang has been a Director and President and C.E.O. since 2001. Previous to that, in May 1998, Mr. Tang founded Action Energy Corporation, contributing capital of $8.5 million. In May 2001, Action Energy Corporation was sold, having attained an enterprise value of $60 million. In 1994, Mr. Tang co-founded Tri-Ex Oil and Gas Ltd., leading the company's growth from production of 80 boe per day to 1,200 boe per day, taking the company public on the TSX and in 1997 merging it with Real Resources Ltd. In 1990, Mr. Tang joined Morrison Petroleums Ltd., discovering the Thompson Lake Provost 'A' oil pool, which has since produced more than 25 million barrels of oil. Mr. Tang later discovered the extension of this pool. From 1985 to 1990, Mr. Tang worked at Texaco Canada Resources Ltd. Mr. Tang received his M.Sc. degree in Geological Sciences from the University of Manitoba in 1985, where he earned the SIGMA XI Award in recognition of outstanding contributions in scientific research.
Kelly D. Kerr
Vice President Finance and CFO
Mr. Kerr brings 24 years of diverse experience in the oil and gas industry in the areas of financial, restructuring and management experience in public and private companies. Prior to joining Action Energy Inc., Mr. Kerr was Vice President Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Innova Exploration Ltd., a TSX listed Company producing 4,300 boed, which was sold in October of 2007 for $400 million. Prior to Innova, he worked as Vice President Finance and Chief Financial Officer of TriQuest Energy Corp., a TSX listed public Company producing 2,000 boed, which was sold for $85 million in January 2004. From 1996 to 2001, Mr. Kerr worked as a corporate finance associate with Rogers and Partners Securities, a local brokerage firm. From 1989 to 1996, Mr. Kerr, as President, CEO and CFO, was instrumental in the restructuring, growth and ultimate sale of Deep Basin Energy Inc, a publicly traded junior oil and gas company. Mr. Kerr completed his Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Calgary and worked with KPMG as an Audit Senior from 1984 to 1989.
Douglas H. Cole, B.Sc, MBA, P.Eng.
Senior Vice President, Engineering
Mr. Cole is a co-founder of Action and became Action's Vice President Engineering in 2001. In October 1999, Mr. Cole joined Action Energy Corporation, which operated two shallow gas fields in southern Alberta. From 1996 to 1998, Mr. Cole was a regional engineering manager with Northstar Energy, where he worked with Warren Doenz. In 1994, Mr. Cole was operations manager at Riata Resources Ltd. In the 1980s and early 1990s, Mr. Cole held engineering positions at Dome Petroleum Ltd. and engineering and management positions with Bow Valley Industries Ltd. Mr. Cole graduated from the University of Calgary with a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering in 1981 and with an MBA in 1989.
Warren J. Doenz, P. Geol.
Vice President, Exploration
Mr. Doenz is a co-founder and is Vice President Exploitation of Action Energy Inc. Mr. Doenz's 25-year energy industry career has included the drilling of more than 200 wells, resulting in 16 discoveries with combined reserves exceeding 15 million boe, as well as participation in substantial acquisitions and divestments. Previously Mr. Doenz was vice president exploration and a director for Action Energy Inc. Previous to that Mr. Doenz was vice president exploration and a director of Action Energy Corporation. During the 1990s Mr. Doenz held senior exploration, technical and production management positions with a succession of senior independent energy producers. During this period he worked with Roger Tang, who is now chairman and C.E.O. of Action. During the 1980s Mr. Doenz was a geologist with a junior oil and natural gas producer. In 1982 Mr. Doenz graduated from the University of Calgary with a B.Sc. in Geology (and a minor in management).
Jeff L. Rideout, P.Land, MBA
Vice President, Land
Mr. Rideout joined Action Energy Inc. as Manager, Land in October 2006, just prior to Action becoming public through the reverse takeover of High Plains Energy. Mr. Rideout was most recently with Enerplus Resources, holding the position of Senior Land Negotiator and negotiating numerous land and property acquisitions within a 17,000 boe/d business unit comprising 25 operated properties in three provinces. Mr. Rideout brings more than 11 years’ experience in negotiations, business development and project management to Action, including time spent specializing in freehold mineral lease negotiations. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Diplomacy/Commerce, an MBA, his professional land certification (P.Land), and is an active member of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen.
